Blog Marketing Trends

Over the last few years blogging has gone from a means of personal expression to being an essential marketing tool. There are over 35 million blogs online, with an estimated 75,000 new blogs being created every day. The universe of blogs or “blogosphere” doubles in size every six months, with 1.2 million new posts a day, or 50,000 every hour. The blogosphere is now sixty times bigger than it was three years ago, and it continues to grow. Technorati, the Google of blog search engines is currently tracking over 2.3 billion links and over 35 million blogs with its blog search engine.

Blog Marketing and Real Estate Consumers

Blogging, or writing in a blog was once seen as a fad, but now blogs hold a fascination beyond most traditional means of communication. Information posted on blogs reaches not only the majority of the 18-34 year olds, but also extends into almost every demographic targeted by real estate agents.

With 88% of 18 to 29 year olds and 84% of 30 to 49 year olds using the internet, blogs are becoming an important source of information and can heavily influence buying decisions. Access to blogs and blog information is available not only through blog search features on regular search engines such as Yahoo, Google and MSN but also on new blog search engines like Technorati, Webdigger, Icerocket and Feedster. It is estimated that 30% of people who use the internet, also read blogs on a regular basis. That percentage is actually much higher since many people do not recognize the difference between a "blog" and a traditional website.
